Dr. Melissa Van Buren
New to Maryville, Missouri, my family & I recently moved back to the United States from the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica.
My last 6 years of medical school & graduate school were rich in global health & volunteer medical work, so it would only make sense my husband & I were caught out of the country (in Costa Rica) during the March 2020 flight shutdowns. We made a life there & now have two dual-citizen children.
I am originally from N. Missouri & still have family in the Chillicothe area where I grew-up. After over a decade away, I am excited to finally be bringing Naturopathic Medicine, Whole Foods Nutrition, & Homeopathy to the Midwest!
Along with owning Northwest Naturopathy, I also work for Northwest Missouri State University as the Employee Wellness Coordinator/Physician, overseeing wellness initiatives & employees' health insurance policies. Additionally, I am Adjunct Faculty, teaching Nutrition & Diet Behavior for NWMSU.
